My Week!:
Monday: Our day was pretty good, we shopped on State St. again. Then we went to the church and signed our transfer shoutouts. It was a pretty good day, we finished the rest of the day visiting and saying goodbye to members! Stephanie Cook is one of them. Sad to say goodbye but good to move on!
Tuesday: So transfers were supposed to be today but it was super rainy so they put out a warning that the 101 highway might be closed so they delayed transfers for a day. So we had more time to see members before I shipped out. I saw Steve Crisenberry, and the Shipley family. I was really sad to leave these amazing people here in Santa Barbara but I am excited to go down south to Moorpark.
Wednesday: Alright, transfers happened today and I left SB around 9:50 and got to T.O around 11:30. When I first got to Moorpark I met Elder Campbell from Blackfoot, Idaho. He is one of the funniest Elders I have ever met. I am so excited to serve with him! We went shopping and got some food so we don't starve, then we went to dinner with the Wilde family. Sister Wilde is from Mackey, Idaho. After that I got to meet Brother Barker, he was cracking "dad jokes" left and right haha. It was a good first night here in Moorpark. Also two of my previous companions are in my district here. Elder Goodman is one of them and he and I had a really fun time together, I am super excited for this transfer.
Thursday: We had a pretty decent day today! Elder Campbell is the district leader here and he had to meet with the zone leaders to learn more about what we need to do with our district. So we did that, then we did a little bit of weekly planning and right after that we had a lesson with our friend Laura, who is getting baptized next Saturday! She is one of the coolest ladies ever haha. Her ancestors were actually part of the group that crossed the plains in the 1800s to get to Utah. She is really excited and ready for it! We then had dinner with a member family, the Pinneo's. They are pretty legit and they make literally the best Lemonade on earth, fresh from one of their lemon trees. We then headed to a non-member's house and had a very interesting experience there. It was kind of odd haha. We finished the day trying to see a potential but she wasn't home! It was a good day all in all.
Friday: Today was pretty crazy! We had district meeting at the church building which was about 5 minutes away so we decided to leave the car and took the bus. However nobody was on the bus haha. Anyway after our district meeting we took the bus back to our apartment and had a solid companionship study. Elder Campbell is pretty stinkin legit! We talked about faith and hope, one chapter in the Book of Mormon, Ether 12, basically talks about what faith is and how we develop hope through that and vice versa. Then we had dinner at a member's, the Donkersgoed's, they were pretty cool. They fed us some chicken and vegetables. We tracted mainly the rest of the night out in the rain, it was pouring pretty hard haha. We still went knocking doors, we didn't find too many people to go by and have a lesson, but we did find friendly people and a few former investigators. It all works out in the end.
Saturday: Today was very tiring. We did service for this potential investigator family, the Lee's. We moved them out of there house into a U-haul truck and then into their new house that has literally like 40 acres of Avocado's, Oranges, and Lemons. They had tons of fruit in these orchards. Anyway we did that for a ton of time then we went to what is called the Roadshow. It's like a play that the whole stake does here. There are 6 wards in the stake and each ward creates a play, at the show the wards performed their plays and it was pretty legit! It was a ton of fun. And that was our Saturday haha oh well.
Sunday: Our day at church was good. We didn't have anything too crazy happen. I was introduced to a bunch of the members I haven't met. Then we went and saw our friend Laura who is getting baptized this Saturday! She is being tested greatly by the devil but she is persevering. We had a lesson with a man named Richard and taught him the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which consists of Faith in Jesus Christ, Repentance, Baptism, Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the End. Richard had many questions, some of which led into deep doctrine but we didn't really go into explain it. He asked us to come back and seemed satisfied. So we will continue to teach him. Then we had dinner with the Fenske's, they are legit one of the more funny families I have had dinner with. They just reminded me a lot of home. It was a good Sunday, 1 week down in Moorpark, 5 to go.
